Carrie Mae Cole Kinard

Carrie Mae Cole Kinard was born on Sunday, May 20, 1945, to the union of the late Arthur Cole and Eola Theresa Williams Cole in Donaldsonville, LA. She was the oldest of thirteen (13) children. Mrs. Carrie accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She late relocated to New Orleans, LA with her mother and siblings and was educated by the New Orleans Public School System. She attended George Washington Carver Senior High School and later received her General Education Diploma. She attended and successfully completed the Early Childhood Education Program at Southern University of New Orleans. Mrs. Carrie worked as a Pre-school Teacher at Total Community Action – Head Start Program for nearly thirty (30) years until she retired immediately following Hurricane Katrina in 2005. She departed this life on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at the age of 78 years old. She was the Goddaughter of Dorothy (Nanan) Thomas Daigle. She is survived by her children: Deidra Antionette Stone Scott (Byron), Olivia Marie Stone Taylor, Al Hunt, III (Judith), and Kimberly Denise Hunt. She is also survived by (6) siblings: Arthur Alexander (Moonie) Cole (Theresa), Jimmie Sharon Cole Bobb (George), Joseph Gregory Cole, Jacqueline Cecelia Cole, Dan Cole and Sylvia Lynn Cole Carney (James); and was proceeded in death by (7) siblings: Michael Lee Cole, Betty Marie Cole Webster, Eddie Anthony Cole, Eola Cynthia Cole, Albertha Ann Cole, and Earline Denise Cole. She is also survived by twelve (12) grandchildren, (10) great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, pastors and members of Law Street Baptist Church, Israelite Missionary Baptist Church, Interdenominational Community Choir (ICC), First Grace United Methodist Church, employees of Total Community Action, PACE Greater New Orleans, Passages Hospice Care, Clover Academy formerly Kingsley House, City of New Orleans, Office of Community Development, New Orleans Police Department, and Sewerage and Water Board are all invited to attend Funeral Service at Law Street Baptist Church, 3132 Law Street, New Orleans, La. on Wednesday, September 13, 2023. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Park, 10400 Old Gentilly Road, New Orleans, La. Repast will be at the church.
