Carolyn Bellizana McGill

Carolyn Bellizana McGill entered into eternal rest on January 8, 2024, at the age of 73. Carolyn was born in New Orleans, on November 8, 1950 to the late Jack Bellizana and Vellia Robinson Bellizana. Carolyn was preceded in death by her daughter Shana McGill Jones (Kendrick); brothers Jack Bellizana, Jr. and Charles Bellizana; sisters Eula Allen, Deloris Cheavis, Eloise Payne and Wavernell Belcher. Carolyn will be deeply missed and is survived by her devoted husband Jerry McGill, who upon meeting her, swept her off her feet; they became one flesh on June 10, 1972. Carolyn also leaves two daughters; Shantrell McGill Johnson (Jamie) and Shanette McGill Barnes (Mark); grandchildren, D’Juan Jerry McGill Johnson, Koy Christopher Jones, Mark Shelton Barnes, III, Kaymon Austin Jones, Colin Joseph Johnson, Shayne Arelle Jones, Caleb Justin Barnes and Shana Malayah Barnes; sisters Margaret Clark, Wilma Hawkins, Brenda Aubert, Janet Ruffin and Carmen Bolden. Also left to cherish her memory are her sisters-in-law, Betty Wilson, Leona Floyd and Joyce Bellizana; brother-in -law Joseph McGill and a host of uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends. Carolyn was educated in Terrebonne Parish and graduated from Southdown High School. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Office Administration at Southern University A & M College in Baton Rouge. Carolyn accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mount Pilgrim Church in Gibson, LA. She later became a devoted member of Dominion and Power Ministries in Harvey, LA where she worshipped over 20 years, and was a member of most every ministry in the church including the Data Entry Team and Finance Team. Carolyn was a dedicated employee for over 33 years at Cytec Industries. Carolyn’s spiritual gift was giving to others, her gentle soul touched everyone she encountered. She will be deeply missed by all those who loved her. Family and friends, also Pastors, Officers and members of Dominion & Power Ministries, employees of Cornerstone Chemical Company (previously Cytec), and Davita Kidney Care are invited to attend the funeral service at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 1419 Fourth St., Westwego, LA, on Friday, January 12, 2024, at 10a.m. Visitation will begin at 8a.m. until time of service.
