Brenda Jackson Williams

Brenda Jackson Williams, the elder child born to the union of Richard W. Jackson, Sr. and Modess Williams Jackson passed away on September 25, 2023. She was the wife of the late Louis C. Williams. A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Brenda was born on July 27, 1943. She was baptized and confirmed at Mount Zion United Methodist Church, where her family has worshipped for four generations. She was actively involved in all aspects of church ministry and was once honored as the “Woman of the Year.” She was a graduate of Xavier Prep High School and received a Bachelors in Education from Dillard University, with honors. While at Dillard she was elected Miss Junior and initiated into Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She was a charter member and three term President of Lambda Mu Omega Chapter of AKA. She later earned a Masters in Urban Education from Governors State University in Illinois and post graduate credits at the University of Illinois, Chicago Circle Campus. She was an outstanding educator for thirty-three years and was honored to be recognized as “Teacher of the Year.” Brenda loved being the gracious hostess wherever she served. Her home was always available, but not only her home, be it church, school, meetings, sorority, etc. her role was to make certain all were comfortable. She truly shared the gift of hospitality. Brenda leaves to cherish her memory her brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Andrea Jackson, Jr; niece and Godchild, Joy Jackson-Baptiste; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her spouse of 31 years, Louis C. Williams; parents, Richard & Modess Jackson, Sr.; nephew, Richard W. Jackson, III; aunt Henrene W. Washington; uncles LeRoy (Bernice) Jackson & Louis (Eloise) Buchanan. Family and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life, on Friday, October 6, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Zion United Methodist Church, 2700 Louisiana Ave. NOLA.
