Betty Jean Hoffman

Betty Hoffman entered this world on October 20, 1958 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was the beautiful daughter of Helen Gray, who was born and raised in Tangipahoa Parish. Her father Lawrence Hoffman, who was born in Hotsprings, Arkansas. The two met in New Orleans, married and from that union, Betty was born. Betty lived most of her life in New Orleans, attended school there and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. She lived in Tangipahoa on her grandparents’ farm for a short time with her mother Helen and stepfather Eddie Gray along with his five children. They returned to New Orleans where Betty and her mother lived until Hurricane Katrina displaced them. Her mother brought a home in Baton Rouge and Betty lived with her for a while. She came back to New Orleans, but continued to commute between Baton Rouge and New Orleans. On Thursday, September 4, 2025, Betty entered eternal rest at her home in New Orleans, accompanied by her loving companion George Dawson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen Gray and Lawrence Hoffman. Daughter, Erica Hoffman; sister, Ruby Mae; grandparents, Ben and Delilah Williams; Godmother, Evelyn Turner; aunts, Augustine Marshall, Nerscile Johnson, Bertha Henry, Levetta Peters, and Inez Porter and two great-grandson, Deylon and Ro’Shaun, Jr. She leaves to mourn her son’s father, Eddie Conerly, Sr., four sons, Eddie (Tiffany) Conerly, Herbert (Keon) Wiltz, Eddie (Laila) Hoffman, Donald Hoffman; 11 granddaughters, Paris, London, Zuri, Hayli, Briana, Lashana, Eriana, Eden, Troylynn, Dion, and Sarah; four grandsons, Eddie, Jr., Deon, Ro’Shaun and Dwayne; ten great grandchildren, Ken’son, Kerason, Kendall, Jayden, Brayden, Ta’Lia, Shyne, Kaila, Sevn, and Ja’Khyri; one niece, Natalie; five nephews, Michael, Raymond, Freddie, Kevin, and Brian Louis. Betty is also survived by a host off cousins and friends who loved her dearly. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Service at D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, 3933 Washington Ave., New Orleans, Louisiana on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 10:00am. Visitation will begin at 9:00am until 10:00am. Arrangements entrusted to D.W.
