Andrea Joan Ratcliff

Evangelist Andrea Joan Ratcliff was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on February 12, 1935, to the late Solomon D. Signal and Irma Foster Signal. Andrea Ratcliff gracefully transitioned to eternal glory on November 15, 2023. She was preceded in death by her beloved sisters Evangelist Eleanor Conley, Rev. Gloria Gary, and Min. Marva M. Sazon. Andrea completed her formal education in Orleans parish schools, culminating with her graduation from Southern University with a Bachelor of Art degree in Education in 1958. For over 30 years, she devoted herself to shaping young minds as a dedicated primary school teacher at Helen S. Edwards Elementary School, leaving an indelible mark on the countless lives she touched. After retiring, Andrea’s unwavering commitment to education and faith endured, as she continued to serve her community as a Sunday School teacher and a fervent evangelist, passionately spreading the love and word of God throughout her community. A devout follower of Christ, Andrea embraced Jesus as her personal Savior at an early age. Her favorite scriptures spanning from Genesis to Revelation, guided her path and illuminated the lives of those around her. Her strength, independence, and unwavering commitment to her faith, family, and community defined her legacy, making her a pillar of strength who embraced everyone she encountered with the word of God and tough love. She leaves to cherish a son, Charles A. Ratcliff, Jr., and a daughter, Kalethea L. Ratcliff, as well as her adored granddaughters, Lynzi Andrea and Reagan Allison. She was the beloved sister to Rev. Andrew Toney Jr. (Rev. Betty Toney), and sister Emmerrier Signal Oubre (Bruce Oubre). Known by her family as Mom, Drea, Mema, EC and IE, Andrea’s memory will forever be cherished by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, family members, friends, members of Mount Hermon Baptist Church, and community members. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the Ochsner Hospital Main Campus Medical Center and ICU nurses and staff for their exceptional and compassionate care.
