Alvin Bush Freeman

Alvin Bush Freeman was born on January 26, 1944 to Lillian Leblanc Freeman in New Orleans, La. Alvin answered the Master’s call and entered into Eternal Rest on June 1, 2026. Throughout his life Alvin always strived to be the best he could be and took every opportunity to help others do the same. His early years were spent growing up in uptown New Orleans. He attended NOLA public schools and was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and a graduate of Southern University in New Orleans. Alvin served in the U.S. Army and was Honorably discharged in 1969. Alvin joined a career as an Accountant at Shell Oil Company where he worked for 15 years. He then joined Robinson Electric and continued his accounting career. He branched out into entrepreneurship and founded J&A Heating and Refrigeration Company after taking advantage of the GI Continuation Program earning his HVAC certification. He served as Founder and CEO until his retirement in 2010. Alvin lived a life filled with enthusiasm for family and friends. He loved caring for family, especially his sisters, always giving advice and direction to anyone who would listen. He loved good food, morning walks in the park in his healthier days, and fellowship with the Burger King Coffee Club. He was an avid fan of horse racing events, always captivated by the strategy, and spirit of the sport. He was a man of faith, kindness and generous spirit. Alvin leaves behind a legacy of love and fond memories for all who knew and loved him. He was proceeded in death by his beloved parents. His beloved sister, Mildred Freeman Theard, brother in laws, Russell J. Veazie, Joseph C. Theard and Herbert R. Williams, Jr. aunts and uncles, Evelina, Maude, Irma, Lydia, Morris and Alvin LeBlanc. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Christine Freeman; Two sons, Alvin L. Freeman (Roberta) and Jeffery Freeman (Dawn); care giver and devoted sister, Barbara F. Williams; Five grandchildren, Janey, London, Alvin Jeffery, Armani and Ava Freeman; nephews, Roy Williams III (Dana), Russell J. Veazie III; nieces, Jacqueline Veazie, Cheryl Honore (Greg), Sylvia Veazie, Lela Stewart (Ted) and Lillian Fields (Gordon); God-children, Stephen Bailey, Lela Stewart and Floyd Summers, and the Burger King Coffee Club. He also leaves to share in sorrow a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at St Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 7300 Crowder Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70127 on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment: Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements by D.W.
