Alston "Tuffy" Johnson Jr., a man whose warmth filled rooms and whose laughter echoed in hearts, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 17, 2024. Born on August 6, 1976, in Torrance, California, to the late Alston A. Johnson Sr. and Gwendolyn Stewart Johnson, Tuffy's life was a tapestry woven with culinary delights, sharp skills, and an abundance of love. Tuffy accepted Christ and was Baptized at an early age at South Vermont Avenue Baptist Church of Gardena California. Tuffy carried his faith close throughout his life. He was the youngest of five children and a beacon of joy and peace for his family and friends. He never met a stranger, his smile lighting up every room he entered. His infectious laughter was a constant reminder to embrace life's simple pleasures. Tuffy wore two hats with pride - a chef's toque and a barber's cape. He nourished bodies and souls with his culinary creations, delighting palates on local shores, offshore adventures, and river journeys. He then transformed himself into a master barber, meticulously crafting hairstyles and cultivating lasting connections with his clients. But above all, Tuffy was a devoted father. He loved his three children dearly, their names forever on his lips and their well-being his constant concern. He leaves behind a loving legacy, a testament to his kindness, generosity, and zest for life. He is survived by his three heartbeats Kia, Zoe and Caleb. Siblings of the first union – the late Raymond Johnson (Quenda), Mark Johnson (Montrice), Kim Soto (Orlando), Shawn Rogers (Miner). His loving mother of the second union, Gwendolyn Johnson and siblings: Terry, Lanis, Kevin, Troy, Tara, Carla, Kendra and Larry whom he loved and cherished. His vibrant spirit also lives on in the hearts of his numerous nieces, nephews, and countless friends. Though Tuffy is no longer physically present, his warm smile, infectious laughter, and the memories he created will forever be cherished by those who loved him dearly.
