Albert Jude Delahoussaye

Albert Jude Delahoussaye entered into eternal rest on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at age of 70. He was born on February 20, 1951 in New Iberia to the union of the late Richard Delahoussaye and Viola Lainez. Of the four children born to Richard and Viola, Albert was the second born and the only boy. He was baptized and confirmed at All Saints Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by: Florence Lainez (grandmother), Angelo Lainez (grandfather), Viola L. Delahoussaye (mother), Richard Delahoussaye (father), Virginia, Albertine Lainez, Verna Turner (Calvin) (aunts), Angelo, Leo, Albert and Joseph Lainez, Sr. (uncles), Karla J. Boyd (niece). Morning his departure and thanking God for the time we had, he leaves to morn his loving wife Jeanne Sadowski-Delahoussaye, Joycelyn Boyd (Mack), Yvonne M. Delahoussaye, Cynthia D. Mondy (sisters), Consuela M. Taylor (niece), Alvin M. Boyd, Sr. (Dionne), Karla J. Boyd, Alvin M. Boyd, Jr. (great nephews), Teresa Brown (aunt) and a host of cousins and friends. Albert Delahoussaye attended All Saints Catholic School then went on to graduate from L.B. Landry High School. Soon after that he joined the U.S. Army giving four years of his life to active duty, one of those years serving in Korea. He was honorably discharged and awarded with several military medals of honor. He worked for McDermott, Halliburton, NAPA Auto Parts, New Orleans Public School Bus Service, and occasionally did construction work. His friends knew that when he could help, he would help. If someone’s house took on water during a hurricane or floods he would go and help them get to dry land. He enjoyed watching the Jugs Social Club Krewe of NOMTOC parades and rode with them one year. Laughter was a pleasure he liked to share. A celebration of Life Service will be held at All Saints Catholic Church, 1441 Teche Street, New Orleans, LA 70114 on Thursday, April 8, 2021. Visitation will begin at 8:30 am, following the Funeral Mass at 10:00 am. Father Peter Weiss, SSJ officiation. Arrangements by D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, Gretna, LA 70053.
