Winifred Delores Sanders On Wednesday, July 28, 2021 Winfred Delores Sanders peacefully transitioned to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ for her eternal rest. Winifred known among her family, friends and neighbors as “Mrs. Feenie” was born December9, 1932 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Essie Lee and Alton Bernard, Sr. She was 88 years old. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at a you Winifred young age. Winifred was the matriarch of her family and loved her husband, Uelis Clarence Sanders, whom she met and married in 1949. God blessed that union with 13 loving children. Winifred was employed at G. H. Leidenheimer Baking Company and retired after many years employed at Podner’s Barbecue Pit, where everyone fondly remember her calm, beautiful spirit and her graceful smile, as she graciously served and greeted them with respect. Mrs. Feenie will be forever loved, cherished and missed by all those that loved her dearly, especially by her husband, their 11 living sons and daughters, and her wonderful grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Essie and Alton Bernard Sr; grandparents; Johnsie and Grant Stoutmeyer; mother and father-in-law; Thelma and Clarence Sanders; sons; Bernard and Gregory Sanders; Grandsons; Paul, Terrance, Javelle, Journell, Ronald Jr, Roy Jr, Diamante, and Jeffery Jr; sisters; Ina Joy Bradford, Barbara Bernard and Elaine Bolton; her brother Alton Bernard Jr, She leaves to cherish precious memories, her husband, Uelis Clarence Sanders; six sons; Royal (Troy Lynn), Ronald (Yolanda), Kenneth (Terri), Byron (Betty), Jeffrey (Zelda), Jonathan (Latonnyia), five daughters; Michelle and DeEtra Sanders, Rosalyn (Lenard), Cheryl Sims, Valorie (Earl); one sister, Angela (Charles) Jones; brother, Winston Bernard and adopted brother, Charles Barnes; Brother and Sister-in-law, Shirley and Lawrence Sanders. and a huge host of grandsons, granddaughters, nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors and the entire Uptown Community. Winifred Delores Sanders has left an indelible mark on the lives of many she touched! Relatives and friends of the family, along with staff and friends of G.H. Leidenheimer Baking, Company, Harrah’s Casino, and the Covenant House are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration on Friday, August 6, 2021 at 11:00 am at New Hope Baptist Church, 1807 Reverend John Raphael Jr Way, New Orleans, LA 70113.
