Peggy Robert-Meilleur

Peggy Robert-Meilleur was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on March 10, 1946 and passed peacefully on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at the age of 74. Wife of the late Marcel R. Meilleur, Sr., daughter of the late John Claude Robert, Jr. and Irene Rivarde Robert. Peggy attended Epiphany, St. Paul the Apostle and St. Mary’s Academy. In her early years, she loved working alongside her father in his clothing store (Claude’s Clothing Store). She also worked in the family business as one of the owners of Munchies/Meilleur’s Restaurant. She later worked as a bus driver with the Orleans Parish School Board transporting children with special needs to and from school. Peggy served as a caregiver for individuals with special needs and often spoke of how much this filled her heart with joy. She also volunteered as a CCD teacher at St. Jude Church and worked in the office and after school care at St. Paul the Apostle School. Peggy was truly a selfless, sweet angel who loved being surrounded by family and friends. She enjoyed traveling with her family on cruises, keeping that suitcase packed and ready to go! She never met a stranger, filling every room she entered with love and laughter, adopting everyone as family- to know her was to love her. Beloved Mother of John Meilleur, Sr., Dean Meilleur, Kelly M. LaBeaud (Pierre), Ryan Meilleur, Sr., Step-children, Andre’ Christophe, Sr., and Darrell Wise. Sister of JoAnn Robert, Claudia Robert, John Claude Robert, III (Chris), Terry Masters (Kevin); Kent Robert, Sr. (Felicia); Gloria Robert, Grace Prosper (the late Rodney Prosper). Peggy was preceded in death by her son Marcel R. Meilleur, Jr. (Isabel), two sisters Vangie Robert and Irene Robert. She is survived by her grandchildren Johanna, Yanelle (Spencer), John, Jr., Brandon, Tahmyas, Jeremy, Loghan, Ryan, Jr., Parys, Ana’, Dylan, Pilar, Kameron, Andre’, Jr. (Adrienne), Blair (Jimmy), April and great grandchildren Robert, Darron, Jarron, Aniya, Gerald, Lacey, Mega, Olive and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends whom she loved dearly. We will miss our precious gem! Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at Corpus Christi/ Epiphany Church, 2022 St. Bernard Ave on Friday, January 29, 2021 at 11:00 am. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am to 11:00 am. As mandated by the State of Louisiana due to the COVID-19 pandemic, attendance is limited. Everyone is required to adhere to all restrictions.
