Nettie Mae Lee

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Nettie Mae Lee, who entered eternal rest on Saturday, November 4, 2023. Nettie was born in Jacoby, Louisiana on March 1, 1942, to James Washington Sr. and Maggie Dozier. Foster Parents the late Rev. Joseph Lee and Alberta Lee. She met and later married her late husband Lawrence Lee at 19 years old. Nettie and Lawrence Lee were blessed with five children, three daughters, and two sons. Their names are Deborah Lee Albert, Carolyn Ann Lee, Lawrence Lee Jr., Lionel Lee Sr, and Gail Marie Tyson. Nettie was a graduate of Joseph S. Clark and later pursued her studies at Loyola University in photography. She had a keen interest in fashion and started designing and altering clothes. Eventually, she became a seamstress for G&K. She worked for many years at Lambert House as a dedicated laundry technician before retiring. Nettie lived life on her own terms as a devoted sister, mother, friend, wife, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents and beloved husband Lawrence Lee Sr. siblings Rita Washington Joseph, Margie Washington, and James Washington Jr, Leola Washington, Vivan Adams, Alfred Washington, and Daughter in law Denitra Ruffin Lee. Nettie is survived by five children who will cherish her memory – Daughters Deborah Albert, Carolyn Lee, Son Lawrence Lee Jr Daughter in law Shawnell Ware Lee son Lionel Lee Sr. Daughter in law Lisa Joshua Lee, Daughter Gail Tyson Son in law Edward Tyson. and her eleven grandchildren - Devon Lee, Dentri Lee, Notsha Albert, Tre Lee, Randy Lee, Lionel Lee Jr. Nathan Albert, Nathaniel Albert, Chelsea Lee, Leah Lee, Jawan Tyson and Ronni Tyson and she is also survived by one Great Grandson Sonny Lee. Nettie will be remembered fondly by a host of family and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a funeral service at D.W.
