Mathieu Cherenfant

. Mathieu Cherenfant , outstanding educator and dedicated church elder of Westbank United Seventh-day Adventist Church departed this life on Monday, April 5, 2021. He was the beloved, devoted, dutiful, and adoring husband of Jennifer Angella P. Cherenfant. Mathieu was born to the union of Marie Antoinette Ultima Bernadin and Stuart Cherenfant in the lovely city of Cape Hatien in Haiti. He is the eighth of ten children. As a youngster, he attended Holy Cross Primary School and Holy Cross Secondary School. Mathieu attended the College of Notre Dame and the College of St. Martial in Haiti. Later on, Mathieu's family migrated to the province of Quebec located in Canada, where Mathieu continued his education at the University of Quebec in Montreal. In 1989, He earned a Master of Art degree in education from Xavier University. He also earned a Specialist Degree from the University of New Orleans in 1996. Throughout Mathieu's years of educational employment in Louisiana, he has served as a Codofil Teacher of French at Alva Thomas Edison Elementary School in New Orleans Public Schools, a teacher of French at Archbishop Shaw High School, and a teacher of French and Latin at Archbishop Hannan, where he received the honor of Teacher of the Year in 2010. Mathieu served as Principal of New Orleans Adventist Academy. He also worked as an Assistant Professor at Southern University of New Orleans. He is preceded in death by his parents Marie Antoinette Ultima Bernadin and Stuart Cherenfant; two Brothers Fleurange Cherenfant and Yvon Cherenfant; and one sister; Huguette Cherenfant. He leaves to cherish his memories, his adorable and devoted wife Jennifer Cherenfant of thirty-one years; four Sisters: Eva Cherenfant of New York, Ruth Cherenfant of Montreal, Lucy Destine` of Ottawa, and Mona Nerette of Montreal; two Brothers: Marcel Cherenfant of Boston Massachusetts and Henry Claude Cherenfant of Montreal, Quebec; Mother-in Law: Yvonne Veronica Knight Griffiths of Yeadon, Pennsylvania; Father-in-Law: Lenroy Powell of Fort Meyers, Florida; Sisters-in-Law: Alice Cherenfant of Nassau, Bahamas, Judy Cherenfant of Boston, Massachusetts, Sophia Karen Griffiths of Yeadon, Pennsylvania, and Yvonne Cherenfant of New York; Brothers-in-Law: Leclerc Destine’ of Ottawa, Max Nerette of Montreal, and Wayne St. Aubyn Powell of Bear, Delaware; Nieces: Florcy Cherenfant, Primerose Joseph, Dr. Marjorie Belizaire, Lucenda McCormack, Phoebe WIlliams, Alex Ultima Cherenfant, Yvie Miriana Cherenfant, Juris Doctor, Falisha Cherenfant, Emmanuela Ne`rette, Orisa Cherenfant, Ariyana Feazell, Olivia McCormack, Liah McCormack, Anaya Cherenfant, Ava Cherenfant Margo Cherenfant ; Nephews: Handal Cherenfant, Arnel Joseph, Pastor Virgo Belizaire, Ronald De`stine, Stuart Cherenfant, McAlland Ne`rette, Eroll Cherenfant, Eli Cherenfant, Juris Doctor, Mitch Teddy Ne`rette, Emmanuel Joseph, Tadeus McCormack, Mike Williams, Solomon Williams, Judah Williams, Elliott Ne`rett, Maverick Cherenfant Godchildren: Varsha Castro Gusman, Fabienne Placide, Dee Smith, John Joseph, Herman Smith Jr. Chloe Justin, Hannah E. Joseph, and a host of cousins and other family and friends.
