Lorraine Harris

Lorraine Simmons Harris AKA "Rainy" was born July 23, 1951 to the late Lillie Trudeaux Wright and the late Arthur Bernard Simmons Sr. She was baptized at an early age at Good Hope Baptist Church in Jonestown of Gretna Louisiana. She was employed by Burger King in Marrero for many years until she retired from the Belle Chasse State School in Plaquemines Parish as a child counselor. Lorraine was married to Roosevelt Harris Jr. and unto that union 2 boys and 1 daughter were born. As a young vibrant and very beautiful woman in her 20's Rainy enjoyed motherhood just as much as she enjoyed anything else. She could cook up a home cook meal from scratch, enjoy a night out on the town or a fast hand at spades or pitty pat, all while using colorful words of profanity as expressions of love because that was her way. If she loved you there was never a question of how far she will go for you and with you. Her zest for living life was unmatched and unwavering. She leaves to cherish her memories her two children: Duanschell (Dwayne) Small & Roosevelt Harris III, 4 brothers Benjamin (Belinda) Wright, Gerald Wright, Vance (Jean) Wright and Jeffrey Wright, 3 sisters Marya (James) Green, Lavern "Vonnie" Wright & Betty "Jeannie" Wright, 9 grandchildren: Durand C. Harris, Jasmine J. Harris, James M. Smith, De'Ja (Najee) Robins, Dwayne K. Small Jr., Tajalea (Johnathan) Johnson, Asia Harris, Brendon Johnson and De'Ja Matthews, 2 great grandchildren: Ernest Harris & Najee Robins. Preceding Lorraine in death are her son Chandrick Glenn Harris, her mother Lillie Trudeaux Wright her father Arthur Bernard Simmons Sr. Her grandmother Alvina Forges-Trudeaux her Grandfather Vance Trudeaux, her sisters Linda Simmons, Rebecca Wright Stevenson & Christine Simmons and one brother Glenn Wright. Relatives and friends of the family, also Bishop and parishioners of New Home Family Worship Center are invited to attend a Funeral Service at D. W.
