Leroy Dokes

Leroy Dokes transitioned to his eternal home, Heaven, on Saturday, August 26, 2023, in his home, with Rhea by his side. He was born in Independence, La. to the late Willie Henry Dokes, Jr. and Vera Ramsey Dokes on January 15, 1949. He was a graduate of Westside High School in Amite, La., c/o 1968. Leroy’s legacy is left to his wife of 38 years, Rhea Joseph-Dokes; Son, Cedric P. Dokes, Sr. (Anetreca); Bonus son: Kirk M. Robinson (Brenda); Grandchildren: Cedric P. Dokes, Jr., Synetra Milton (Sedrick). Siblings: Willie Henry Dokes, III (Elizabeth), Debra Dokes, (the late Walter), Warren Dokes, Janice D. Gibson, Shirl D. Williams (the late Charlie), Samantha D. Jones. Aunts: Nevodice D. Hulbert, Marion Stewart; Uncle: Marion “Poppa” Dokes (Bernia). God-daughters: Makeba Wade, (Justin), Pamannie LaGrange (Justin). Brothers and Sisters-in-law: Marvin & Venita Joseph, Robin J. & Darrell Smallwood of Maryland, Larry Harvard of N.Y. Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; Sisters; Audrey D. Harvey and Barbara D. Leonard. Grandparents; Willie Henry Dokes Sr. and Lenora Mobley-Dokes, Mary Nichols and Curtis Ramsey. 8 Aunts; 3 Uncles. In-laws: Naomi and Mathew Williams; Stanley and Bernice Joseph.
