Herbert Roy Williams Jr.

Herbert Roy Williams, Jr. answered the Master's call and peacefully entered Eternal Rest on January 21, 2021, at the age of 74 in Memphis, TN. Roy as he was affectionately called, was born November 30, 1946 to the union of the late Herbert R. Williams, Sr., and Myrtle Phillips Williams. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Denece Williams, brother, Kerry Williams, and sisters Marva Nell Ross, Brenda, and Sylvia Williams. Roy is survived by his wife of 40 years, Barbara F. Williams, son H. Roy Williams III, daughter Denita Bosley (Cornell), sister Andrea (Kenneth), brothers Jackie (Kim); Kermit (Stephanie); Ray (Nancy); and Warren, six grandchildren, two godchildren Kenneth Lanier Taylor II, and Charles Givens, brother-in-law Alvin Freeman, special cousin Gloria Smith, forever friend Luke Woods and a host of other relatives, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Roy was born in New Orleans, LA but grew up in Wills Point in Plaquemines Parish, LA. Roy relocated to Los Angles at the age of 16 and lived there for many years. He was a resident of Memphis, TN for the past 33 years. Roy was a graduate of Phoenix High School and Los Angeles Technical College. He served in the US Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1967. Roy worked in the airline industry with both Continental Airlines and Federal Express. He retired from Federal Express in 2009. Roy will be greatly missed by many and fondly remembered by all. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 7300 Crowder Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70127, on Friday, February12, 2021 at 10:00 AM. As mandated by the State of Louisiana due to the COVID-19 pandemic, attendance is limited. Everyone is required to adhere to all restrictions.
