Charlie Haynes Jr

Charlie Haynes Jr., husband of Paetra Davis-Haynes, departed this life on September 5, 2017 at Ochsner Medical Center in Gretna, LA at 65 years old. Charlie was born in New Orleans, LA to the late Charlie and Georgia Haynes on August 24, 1952. He was the second of three children born to this union. During his early and teenage years, Charlie gained an affinity for mechanics and carpentry which he used his entire life. Charlie graduated from Walter L. Cohen High School in 1970. After graduation, Charlie joined the Marines. His service to the U.S allowed him to see parts of the world such as Vietnam, Japan, Hawaii, California and North Carolina. While in the service, Charlie excelled at intramural football and was a Gunnery Sergeant. Touring overseas, Charlie met his 1st wife, Eva Pardo, and to this union two sons were born, Charlie III and Chris. Charlie later met and married Brenda Bailey, whom he had one son with named Darell. Charlie put down roots in Luling, Louisiana for 20+ years. He was an avid supporter of Hahnville High School football and an active member at First Baptist Church in Paradis, LA. Charlie eventually moved back to New Orleans, living side by side with his sisters. After Hurricane Katrina, Charlie relocated to Belle Chasse, LA. Charlie was a long time employee of Monsanto, BP, Sunoco, Conoco Phillips, Phillip 66 and Murphy Oil. During his later years of employment, Charlie was seen as a go to person for both management and employees on many issues, including Health and Safety. During his spare time, he loved to watch sports and ride alongside his brothers in the Free Riders New Orleans, Motorcycle Club. He was preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Georgia Haynes and his oldest sister Rosa Donaldson. He leaves his wife, Paetra Davis-Haynes; sons, Charlie III, Chris (Shahida) and Darell Haynes; stepson, Tre’ Davis; grandsons, Charlie, Joshua (Nicole), Issac, and Armando Haynes; granddaughters, Aleah, Isabella and Azariah Haynes; and sister, Dianne Haynes Bowens; nieces, Dominique Donaldson, Ja’Lia and Breyanna Walker, nephews, Colby (Kristen) and Reginald (Trechelle) Bowens, Calvin Walker, Jr. and Jaheim Johnson. His mother in-law, Cynthia Davis; sister in-law, Heather Walker and brother in-law, Calvin Walker, Sr. He also leaves behind a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends who cared for him dearly. Relatives and friend of the family, pastor, officers and members of First Baptist Church in Paradis, LA; Greater Mount Calvary Church in Marrero, LA, Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Westwego, LA and all neighboring churches, also employees of Alliance Refinery and members of the Free Riders Motorcycle Club are all invited to attend a Funeral Service at Rock of Ages Baptist Church, 6533 Acre Road, on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 1:00 pm.
