A Multipurpose Event Center
3933 Washington Avenue
When an occasion calls for a truly grand setting,
The Rhodes Pavilion is a spectacular choice. From glorious weddings, galas and other festivities to traditional and jazz funerals and repast celebrating a loved one’s life —nothing compares to the building once known as the Tivoli Theater.
Designed by Emile Weil, a leading Louisiana architect specializing in the historic revival styles of the early 20th century, and completed in 1927, the Tivoli Theater was a true “movie palace.” It’s impressive façade faces Washington Avenue on the edge of the Broadmoor neighborhood and served as a social and entertainment center for several decades.
In 1969, Duplain W. Rhodes Jr. purchased the Tivoli to provide a newly expanded facility for Rhodes Funeral Homes, completely renovating the structure in 1970. In 2005, Hurricane Katrina ravaged the Tivoli, tearing off much of her roof and flooding the interiors with moving water.
Rather than abandoning this historic building, our family has dedicated ourselves to renovating the Tivoli into a multipurpose event center—open to all residents of New Orleans and Louisiana to celebrate their special events in the grandest style. One of the unique features of the Rhodes Pavilion is a Chapel space with soaring, inspiring décor, reminiscent of the Tivoli’s theater days.
The Pavilion offers modular formatting with many different room sizes available. Multi media amenities include projection and monitors, sound and video. Seating is flexible. Plan your event for a group of 20 to a group of 175 and anywhere in between.
